Desiderio – Italian for “Desire”
Desiderio represents deeply-felt desire, the longing one has for the target or their ardor. It may be the need to perform a particular function or role, or having a wish come true. It is a most powerful force, one that fuels great art, heroic achievement, herculean effort. But it is also personal, an inner drive that craves fulfillment or satisfaction. When it flows from the mind of the musician, it can transcribe the notes to an epic symphony or a plaintive ballad. For another, it will yield a love letter that will scorch the page, or a poem that will wrench a response from the heart of the reader.
Embodying this in a pen is a challenge that has produced a series of writing instruments imbued with mystery, for it is impossible to explain the power of sheer desire. Desiderio writing instruments are made in pearlised bi-colour resin, the user choosing from red and black, grey and blue or beige and brown, with trim in sterling silver and a filigree-cut 18kt gold nib.
No two are alike, just as all desires are unique, for the material that forms each cap and body possesses its own swirling pattern.
Montegrappa’s signature octagon accents the top, while the rolling ball at the end of the pocket clip and a thin line around the cap are coloured to contrast with the body. Upon removing the cap, the second colour is also revealed at the writing end of the fountain or the rollerball pen.
Desire reaches fulfilment with a choice of four writing tools. Desiderio is offered as a fountain pen in both cartridge and converter-fed form, a rollerball pen, a ballpoint pen and a mechanical pencil. Each exists to express your yearnings and aspirations.

Bugatti Pur Sang Duotone pens are offered as fountain pens, rollerballs, ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils. For the fountain pen, an 18k gold nib is fitted, also engraved with the “Dynamic Quilting” pattern and featuring the famous Bugatti logo. The oval logo, known as “macaron” in French, also appears in full colour on the top of the cap of every pen, while the shape of the Veyron’s headlights inspired the engraving around the cap ring.
All Bugatti Pur Sang Duotone pens are packaged in specially-designed boxes with the Bugatti badge’s oval cross-section. The lid’s inner surface features the “Dynamic Quilting” pattern, while the outer case suggests carbon fibre, as used extensively in the Veyron.

Montegrappa, in collaboration with designer, Vincenzo Luly, presents the Tiziano writing instruments collection inspired by the artist’s illustrious painting “Vanitas” (1512-1515). Ensuring that devotees of Tiziano and art lovers in general will be enthralled by the Genio Creativo Tiziano Pens, the barrels, with the artistic interpretations of the subjects, are hand-painted by miniaturist par-excellence Straffi Lorena. The cap top is further enriched with the original Tiziano wax seal. The latter is also virtuously reproduced onto the barrel end of the magnifying glass that complements the fountain pen.Offered in a limited edition of 100 items for each model, the Tiziano fountain and rollerball pens are both distinctive and evocative of the artist’s era, in that the barrel end and cap are made of precious beech wood. The natural material was indeed retrieved from the secular beech tree, also known as “the Tiziano beech” that grew in the premises of his home in Pieve di Cadore. In 2012, this monumental timber-plant was incidentally ripped by a windstorm, thus disconnecting eventually the historical liaison between the painter and his homelands. Among the most famous is his 1944 work, Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening, which has inspired Montegrappa's designers to devise a pen worthy of Dali's vision. It was the first of a number of works to contain a form, which would become a recurring image in Dali's work: The Space Elephant.
Montegrappa's designers have transformed these noble beasts, portrayed with long, multi-jointed, almost invisible legs of desire along with obelisks on their backs into miniature manifestations of Dali's art. On the Dali pen, the elephant embraces a barrel of Mediterranean blue celluloid for the silver edition, or in malachite green for the solid gold version. When the pen is opened, a quote from the autobiography, The Secret Life of Salvador Dali, is inscribed on the inner barrel. Montegrappa will issue only 1,000 sterling silver fountain pens and 989 rollerball pens, denoting 1989 the year that Dali died. 19 solid gold rollerball pens and 61 fountain pens will represent the year he created the 1961 jewellery, The Space Elephant.
The pens are packaged, appropriately, in an egg-shaped container, in recognition of another Dali-esque image. For the artist, the egg symbolised hope and love.

Both the historic traditions of grappa distilling and the aesthetic of steampunk have inspired and influenced the design of the latest addition to Montegrappa’s Cult collection. The materials used in the pens’ manufacture, reminiscent of the distilling vessels, include stainless steel, brass and copper for the cap and barrel, employed in the manner of the actual equipment’s construction.
Embracing the spirit of grappa and its life-enhancing properties, the Grappa Pens arrive in special packaging not unlike the presentation of an actual bottle of the liquor. The pen comes in a blown glass bottle with a large globe base, made by local artisans, bearing the Montegrappa coat of arms in metallic finish.

Bugatti Pur Sang Duotone pens are offered as fountain pens, rollerballs, ballpoint pens and mechanical pencils. For the fountain pen, an 18k gold nib is fitted, also engraved with the “Dynamic Quilting” pattern and featuring the famous Bugatti logo. The oval logo, known as “macaron” in French, also appears in full colour on the top of the cap of every pen, while the shape of the Veyron’s headlights inspired the engraving around the cap ring.
